The Enhanced Measles Response Program (EMRP) is a Victorian Department of Health initiative responding to increased global measles activity and the heightened risk of local transmission across Victoria. Adults born between 1966 and 1992 are more likely to have received only one dose of a measles‑containing vaccine in childhood and may therefore be under‑immunised, with additional priority populations including people born overseas, particularly those from countries with disrupted immunisation programs, incomplete vaccination records, or lower childhood vaccination coverage.
General practices are encouraged to identify adults born during or after 1966 who do not have documented evidence of two MMR doses or who are unsure of their immunity, as well as eligible patients born overseas where clinical information is available. Clinicians are encouraged to assess measles vaccination status and offer state‑funded measles‑mumps‑rubella (MMR) vaccines to eligible patients, including those with uncertain vaccination histories.
