Pain Management

Home > Pain Management

Pain management services provide a multidisciplinary approach for patients experiencing ongoing pain, with the aim of creating knowledge and skills to manage pain.

A number of health professionals from various disciplines including medical specialists, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, and social workers may work with patients in a whole-person approach to managing pain.

Clinical guidelines, such as the National Prescribing Service’s Opioids – a planned approach to prescribing opioids for persistent non-cancer pain, recommend a cautious approach for the management of patients with chronic pain.
